For people who enjoy history, art and learning about how things were prior to now, you probably also love going to museums. Montana boasts an impressive number of museums and art galleries, 274 to be exact!

With so many museums spread out over the state, I can easily see why it would be so hard to figure out which ones to go to and which ones are worth the time. As we know some museums, if not put together well, can turn out to be pretty boring and uneventful. Here are some of the Montana museums that are not a waste of time.

The CM Russell Museum: Established in 1953, the C.M. Russell Museum in Great Falls, Montana owns the most complete collection of Charles Russell art and personal objects in the world. C.M Russell was an artist of the American West who created paintings of cowboys, Indians and landscapes set in the Western United States. He also created bronze sculptures. The permanent collection at The C.M. Russell Museum is comprised of over 12,000 paintings and objects.

The Moss Mansion: Located in Billings, this historic house museum captures early turn-of-the-century life of the Preston Boyd Moss family. The mansion is a red sandstone structure built in 1903 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors will see original draperies, fixtures, furniture, Persian carpets and artifacts during their guided tour. The Moss Mansion was designed by Henry Jane Hardenbergh who also designed the original Waldorf-Astoria.

The Yellowstone Art Museum: Also located in Billings, the Yellowstone Art Museum is an important visual arts center for the surrounding region. Founded in 1964, it is now a fully accredited Museum. There are over 3,000 painting and objects which have exceeded all expectations of growth and popularity of the museum.

The Western Heritage Center: This historic building is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in Billings as well, it was originally the Parmly Billings Library, built in 1901 by Billings founder as a memorial to his son, Parmly. Within the beautiful main floor old oak galleries are changing exhibits where the stories of peoples of the Yellowstone River Valley unfold.

Museum of the Rockies: One of the most popular museums can be found in Bozeman, Montana. The Museum of the Rockies focuses mainly on dinosaurs and Paleontology, but also houses an amazing Planetarium for a new perspective on Montana’s Big Sky. There is also a great exhibit on Lewis & Clark, often thought of as America’s greatest adventure story. Another great feature is the living farm which allows kids to see and also experience what life was like over a century ago on a Montana homestead.

Of course there are many amazing Montana museums that I could cover, but it would be hard to cover the many aspects of each museum in just one article. The few that I have listed are some of the more exciting and equally entertaining museums for both adults and children, which as we all know, is a very important quality!

Pet lovers favor this hotel since it allows them to bring their furry friends along for vacation. Rated highly for cleanliness and also for spacious rooms. Some amenities include free parking, free breakfast, heated indoor pool and hot tub, business center, exercise room and rooms for disabled guests too! Located off I-90 as well for easy access. Room are available under $100 a night.

Rated # 4: Best Western Clock Tower Inn (2511 First Avenue North, Billings, MT 59101-2320)

This two-story hotel is situated in the heart of downtown, within walking distance from shops, theaters and a museum. You can take a courtesy coach from the Billings airport to the hotel in about 10 minutes time. Many guest have said the rooms are comfortable and that the staff is outstanding as well as accommodating! The hotel itself is older but has had many renovations and remodeling to bring it up to date. There are rooms available under $100 and this hotel is also pet friendly!

Rated # 3: Residence Inn Billings (956 South 25th Street West, Billings, MT 59102)

This hotel is only a little over a year old, open since July 2007, and has been decorated true to Montana. Themed throughout with horses and cowboys, it is set up in such a way that it is not overbearing, which makes it very appealing. The rooms are large and comfortable with goose down comforters. Every review I read was rated with a 5 being the best accept one. That review said that the air conditioning was so noisy they couldn’t sleep at all. I’m not sure if there was something wrong with it when they visited but I haven’t seen any more reviews like that so overall it seems like a wonderful place to stay! Rooms average at about $146 a night.

Rated # 2: Hilton Garden Inn (2465 Grant Road, Billings, MT 59102)

Something a lot of people seemed to like about this hotel is the restaurant and bar located within it. They feature happy hour from 6:00 to 8pm and surprisingly it is not over crowded! A lot of people said that finding the hotel was awkward since it is not on a main road and located back aways. High ratings were in almost everything, service cleanliness, value, the only low rating was in location as it was hard to find. Their website says they have new garden sleep system beds and 32 inch flat panel hdtv, not sure if that is in select rooms because they do not specify. Average price is about $136 a night.

Out of the 42 hotels located in Billings, Montana, these are the top hotels rated # 2-6. So what about the #1 hotel? I have written a large article covering the #1 hotel in Billings mainly because I believe travelers may need a little more information then 3-7 sentences. A funny thing happened with LDK Solar (LDK) on Tuesday.  The stock gapped lower on the open after the company pre-announced figures for the fourth quarter.  The release was not pretty and investors were not pleased.

Basically, the company said that revenue would come in at $425-435 million compared to previous guidance at $555 to 565 million.  Solar shipments look to have been 245-255 MegaWatts compared to previous guidance of 260-270 MW, and gross margins will only be roughly 10-13% (previous guidance was 18-20%).

The fourth quarter data was disconcerting, but what likely spooked investors was a delay in polysilicon production.   One of the most important initiatives over the next few quarters is the internal production of poly.  This will keep the company from having to rely on suppliers for poly which can be difficult to produce, and expensive to purchase.  While the company is actively producing a small amount of poly, it stated that there was a delay in ramping this production to a higher level…  Bad news!

Back to the funny thing… It seems that by the end of the day, LDK was actually trading higher!  Investors were able to shrug off the bad news because the stock was already trading at such low levels.  Shareholders have been largely negative on solar names over the past few months, but once the bad news actually hits the public, it may be that the next surprising data will actually be positive!

Looking to 2009, the company is giving lighter revenue guidance of $2.3 to $2.5 billion.  Despite being lower than previous expectations, the figures are roughly 45% above 2008 levels.  Furthermore, the company is expecting gross margins of 22 to 27%.  The margins are at least partially due to expectations of polysilicon production of 3,000 to 5,000 megatons.  I should note that the poly delay was on the company’s 1,000 MT plant.  It seems that the larger 15,000 MT plant (under construction) is still on schedule and should begin poly production in the second quarter.  It is actually better for the company to gain the experience and make mistakes on the 1,000 MT plant so when the larger one is ready to ramp production, the company will have a better process in place.

Subscribers to the ZachStocks Growth Model have already made 9.5% in the name and we are looking for further gains.  While Oppenheimer lowered EPS estimates to 2.90 for 2009, the stock still trades at roughly 5 times forward earnings.  That’s likely a great deal for such a strong competitor.  LDK is sitting on $380 million in cash and has access to $850 million in additional credit lines.  So I expect them to be financially stable and have adequate resources to continue to build their business.  As the company shows progress in their poly production, and the market begins to realize potential in alternative energy, LDK should prove to be an opportunistic investment.

You have really made me angry tonight. It is my opinion that your “opinions” of Senator Clinton’s Bosnia trip, have gotten old and I am sure many viewers agree with me. Do you realize how very “silly” your “news” stories are becoming on this one “news” item. You are all just nothing but “gossip” reporters.

Have none of you ever exaggerated a story in order to prove a point? Frankly, I believe you do it every night. What is the point of this “news” story about Clinton and Bosnia? She is not basing her whole foreign policy experience on that one trip; she is just telling a story. She has probably told it a thousand times over the years and the times I have seen her tell it; it is quite a funny story. Have you never told a funny story and as the years go by, you add to the story to better make your point? Sure you have, I watch you do it every night.

Chris Matthews: Lighten up Chris! Why don’t you “report” the positive side of Clinton’s trip? For example, just the fact that she was in Bosnia is an interesting “news” item. Did Clinton perhaps carry any “message” from our President to the President of Bosnia or the negotiators? Why don’t you “report” on her meeting the soldiers in Bosnia and how much she cares about our soldiers? And the refugees, talk about them; did she meet them and speak with any of them?

Keith Olbermann: Why don’t you “report” where the video came from? Who taped the video? Who edited the video? It was edited; my old eyes with my bifocals can even see that. Was the video taken on the tarmac or in front of the base? Who verified that? Who is your facts checker?

Mr. O’Reilly: What did the pilot tell Clinton about snipers in the hills? What were the pilot’s instructions to Clinton and the people with her? Has anyone “interviewed” the pilot to ask him “exactly” what he told his passengers? What was the pilot’s name?

Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes: Why don’t you “gossip” about whether Clinton had a bullet proof vest under the long coat she was wearing? How many Secret Service agents were surrounding her and her daughter? Why don’t you “speculate” whether she was scared of any danger or concerned for her daughter’s safety?

All of you; stop “talking” or “reporting” or giving your “opinions” on a story about something that your viewers are tired of! Don’t be so extremely negative all the time. Now, I do realize that the 24/7 news cycles have changed the way that the news is “reported” and perhaps you often need to “speculate” and “gossip” to make your interview shows more interesting; but you are “beating a dead horse” on this story. (And no, I am not saying that people are tired of Hillary nor am I comparing her to a dead horse!)

Do something useful, like “vet” Obama so our country doesn’t elect another arrogant, inexperienced President. All of you are acting like “love sick” teenagers when it comes to Senator Obama.

Of course, all of this is just my “opinion” but then I don’t claim to be a news journalist either.

I’d guess that most people who own a computer have seen that picture… and thus the advertisement for Disneyland. The bird flu epidemic is newsworthy and has the potential to attract an enormous amount of attention to any brand that might, for whatever reason, associate itself with it.

Remember that people are much more likely to share a joke or a funny picture than anything else so you would be well advised to include humor in your e-mail campaign.
